Situated on the fourth floor of a 250 year old listed building, the apartment has been refurbished to a high standard and offers comfortable, central, self-catering accommodation for two people in the bedroom, with the option of a larger than double sized, very comfortable sofa bed in the sitting room.
The apartment is ideally situated for those embarking on family history research as it is within comfortable walking distance of New Register House, the Scottish Genealogy Society Library & Family History Centre, National Library and Central Library and having successfully completed Visit Scotland's Ancestral Tourism course, Janet is happy to offer advice and information regarding family history research. The Apartment:


The light and airy sitting room shown right has a classic marble mantlepiece with Morso 'living flame' gas stove, giving the room an attractive focal point and extra warmth, the central heating radiator providing background heat. Facilities include television set with
Freeview digital receiver, VCR, DVD player, music centre, internet access and payphone. There are two sofas in the room one of which
easily converts into a larger than double sized & very comfortable bed.
The bedroom (left), which benefits from secondary glazing, is furnished with good quality pine furniture providing plenty of storage. The bedroom is shown with twin beds, but these can be joined to form one super king size double. Please let us know your preference.


The photograph on the left shows the smart and very well lit bathroom which has both bath & 9.5 Kw Mira sport shower as well as a basin with light/shaver point. Good quality bath & hand towels plus bath mat are supplied.
The photograph on the right, shows a corner of the bright, well organised,well equipped kitchen, which has fridge/freezer, washer/drier, dish-washer, full size gas hob and fan assisted electric oven and a multifunction microwave. An iron and ironing board as well as all crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and linens are supplied.

Above photograph shows the attractively decorated dining room which comfortably seats four.
General Information/Facilities.
Internet Access is available in the flat
The flat has both payphone and entryphone system. Heating is by gas central heating,
with the added comfort of a 'living flame' Morso gas stove in the sitting room.
All gas, electricity, linen, towels, internet access & taxes are included in rates.
Access to the flat is via a shared well lit stairway, there is no elevator to the flat.
Please note: Apartment by Royal Mile is strictly No Smoking
Regret: The apartment is unsuitable for pets.
For your safety all gas appliances are inspected annually and
a Landlord's Gas Safety Certificate is held.
Public Transport
There is public transport available on St. Mary's Street, nearby Cannongate & North Bridge. For other destinations
there are buses from George IV Bridge (5minutes), Princes Street (5minutes) and Waverley Bridge (5minutes).
Waverley Train Station is five minutes walk from the apartment as are the Airport Bus Stances, Edinburgh Airport
being approximately six miles from the city centre.

Car Parking
Most guests find there is no need for a car during their stay, as the apartment is ideally situated within walking distance of many places of interest while others are within easy reach by public transport/coach tours. For those wishing to bring a car, free on-street parking in St. Mary's Street is available from18.30 hours in the evening until 8.00 hours in the morning weekdays and is available from 18.30 on Saturday & all day Sunday. There are also four metred bays opposite the apartment where cars may be parked for up to four hours at a cost of £2.00 per hour.
