The apartment is located near the top of St. Mary's Street, about ten metres from the corner of High Street/St. Mary's Street. The World's End Pub is on that corner, and just below that and in St. Mary's Street itself is the Waverley Pub. The next door down is the main door of No. 7   The flat bell is the top right bell on the entry phone.  For those carrying keys: The brass coloured Yale is the key for the street level door and the other two keys are for the apartment door.

Arriving by plane in Edinburgh The options are:  

1. Taxi: A taxi direct to the flat which can cost up to £25.00   Steven Kane of Edina Cars - reputedly Edinburgh's first carbon neutral private hire company - is currently offering a rate of £17.50 Airport to apartment and £15.00 for the return trip.  Contact: 0131 656 9880 (+44 131 656 9880) or email: bookings@edinacars.co.uk  

2. Airport Bus to Waverley Bridge adjacent to Waverley Train Station. Airlink bus (Number 100) rate is currently only £6.00 per person £3.00 per child (5 to 15) for an open return ticket. Single journey tickets are £3.50 per adult and £2.00 per child.  The 6 mile journey takes around half an hour and the Airlink bus (No 100) terminates on Waverley Bridge opposite Waverley Train Station, please see directions for Waverley Bridge to the apartment below. 

3. By Service Bus No 35 Lothian Service bus which takes just over an hour and which passes down High Street very close to the apartment.  The best stop is close by John Knox House/Netherbow/Story Telling Centre only one/two minutes from the flat - ask your driver for assistance to ensure that you find the correct stop..  The fare is £1.20 per adult and 70p for children.  Please note:   The exact fare is needed as no change is given on service buses.  No 35 leaves from a bay close by the domestic passenger door of the terminal building - a few stances away from bus No. 100.  Although this bus takes a little longer than the Airlink bus, you do not then need a taxi /walk from Waverley Bridge where the Airlink bus terminates. Timetables for No. 35 are available at www.lothianbuses.co.uk/r35.htm  Downside of this service is that it stops all the way along the route therefore taking an hour to reach the High Street and there is not a dedicated luggage area.

4. By Car   If you are collecting a hire car at the airport and need directions, please let us know and we will email directions to you, or you can go to  http://www.theaa.com/travel/index.jsp who provide a route serice. For this you need to input Edinburgh Airport in the 'From' box and EH1 1TA into the 'To' Box.  You can then print the route plus map if required.

Arriving by Train/Airport Bus  

 Taxi:  From Airport Bus Stances/Waverley Train Station/Waverley Bridge, we suggest a taxi to the flat, as it is an uphill climb to the Old Town area, a bit challenging when carrying luggage. There is a taxi rank within and another outside Waverley Train Station - on the opposite side of the street to the Airport Bus Stances, or it is often possible to hail a taxi.  The taxi fare from there to the apartment is about £3.50.  

By Bus from Waverley Bridge to the Apartment. 

The number 36 Lothian bus leaves around every 20 minutes from Waverley Bridge (on same side of the street as Waverley train station, and stops accross the street from the flat - first stop in St. Mary's Street. Fare £1.20 per adult 70p. for children.  Please note that the exact fare is needed as no change is given on service buses, also that there can be a wait of at least 20 minutes for the bus.  The fare for two adults plus one or two children is over £3.00 and therefore not much less than the taxi fare.  From the bus stop in St. Mary's Street,  walk up to traffic lights and cross at panda crossing (green man) towards side of Worlds End Pub.  Walk a few metres down St. Mary's to just beyond Waverley Pub and the next door is the main door of No. 7.  The bell for apartment no. 7 is top right. 

On Foot from Waverley Bridge to the Apartment

Follow the route, (walking away from Princes Street) - Waverley Bridge - left into Market Street - a few metres on, cross to other side of Market Street at panda crossing towards City Art Centre, left and follow road under North Bridge bearing right into Jeffrey Street, at the top of which (Tass Pub) go straight across at traffic lights to World's End Pub/ St. Mary's Street. The main door of Number 7 is immediately after the Waverley pub in St. Mary's Street about 10 metres from the corner of High Street/St. Mary's Street. The apartment bell is the top right bell.

Arriving by Bus in Edinburgh at St. Andrews Square Bus Terminal.    

A taxi direct to the apartment from the taxi rank in the square. 

On Foot: (Ten minutes) Walk down to Princes Street via South St. Andrews Street. Cross over Princes Street towards Princes Mall via the panda crossing - turn right - and a few metres on - left into Waverley Bridge. Follow above directions from there.  Alternatively:- cross Princes Street and turn left - walk as far as North Bridge - right and walk up North Bridge to traffic lights at cross roads of North Bridge/High Street and cross North Bridge diagonally towards Bank Hotel (not recommended unless 'green man' is showing at lights) continue down High Street to the corner of St Mary's Street, (World's End pub on corner) turn right and ten metres or so down - just beyond the Waverley Pub is the main door of No. 7  The apartment bell is top right.
