Ways in which you can help.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city, with many historic buildings, art galleries, museums and theatres as well as large areas of green spaces including Princes Street Gardens, Arthur's Seat, Salisbury Crags, Pentland Hills and Water of Leith. There are a number of ways in which visitors to our area can help to reduce the impact of tourism.
Consider leaving your car at home. There are many excellent public transport links to Edinburgh, all of which terminate in or near the city centre.
The apartment enjoys an ideal central location so many places of interest can be accessed on foot while others can be visited via regular public transport or via a tempting array of bus tours, walking tours and cycle tours.
Waverley Train Station is five minutes walk from the apartment and there are frequent train services to other towns and cities you may wish to visit.
By walking or taking public transport you are greatly reducing your impact on the environment.
Follow the Countryside Code: When visiting green areas, the Countryside Code reminds us all to protect, respect and enjoy it, as well as to look after plants and animals, to take litter away, guard against fire, leave areas as you find them and consider other people and users.
Buy locally produced goods: There are many shops in Edinburgh selling locally sourced, good quality products, where you will find friendly staff who are happy to spend time assisting you with your purchases.
Please remember to reduce: reuse: recycle:
Try to avoid overly packaged goods and say no to that extra leaflet or carrier bag when you go shopping - reusable bags & tourist information are available at the apartment.
Try to recycle any waste you have.
Conserve Energy: Reduce energy used by switching off lights when leaving a room and by closing windows if heating is on.
Be water wise: Please use water wisely and minimise waste by avoiding leaving taps running needlessly.
Support Green Tourism Businesses: There are hundreds of businesses trying to reduce their environmental impact through the Green Tourism Business Scheme, please give them your support. Businesses are awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold for their efforts to be more environmentally responsible. See www.green-business.co.uk for more information
